Every Click Logic hosting plan comes with email. Customers are allowed to create as many email addresses as they would like. The email service provides many features including: web based email, IMAP, POP, SPAM Filtering, email lists, auto-reply and forwarding.
Email accounts are created using administrative console at the Click Logic web site. To use the administrative console, you will need to have your administrator username and password. Please contact us if you need assistance.
Migrating To Click Logic Email Hosting
Migrating from your previous email hosting to Click Logic is a simple process.
Let Click Logic know that you would like to transfer the email hosting.
Use the administrative console to create all the email accounts that you want transferred to Click Logic.
Inform Click Logic that you are ready and we will make the necessary DNS changes. If you manage your own DNS settings, change the mx record, the a record for mail.mywebiste.net and the a record for webmail.mywebsite.net to match the ip address of your web site.
Wait 1 hour. At that point all email should be flowing through the Click Logic servers.
Inform the users that they need modify their email program as described below.
Inform users that they should check the email at their old host using web mail just in case a message arrived during the transition and is on the previous server.
Web Based Email
Anyone with an email account that is hosted by Click Logic, can access their email using the email web site. The URL is http://webmail.yourdomain.com. For example, if your domain name is www.mywebsite.net, then you should access web mail with the URL http://webmail.mywebsite.net. If you have any trouble, you may also use the URL http://webmail.clicklogicinc.com.
The user name is always the full email address ( todd@mywebsite.net ). If a user needs to have their password reset, it may be done using the administrative console.
More information about the web based email system is available here.
IMAP
IMAP is an way of managing email so that when email is synchronized across all devices. So if a person accesses their email on their computer and also on a phone, the computer and phone are kept in sync. Email only needs to be deleted, moved to a folder or marked as read once since all the devices are kept in sync.
NOTE: IMAP stores all emails on the server. It is possible for the mailbox to be full if too many emails are kept. When a mailbox is full, additional email cannot be delivered, so the sender receives an error response.
POP
POP is a way of retrieving new email from the mail server into an email program such is Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or Apple Mail. With POP, each device is independent. Therefore, the email will appear on all devices and each one needs to manage it. Many people find this helpful if they want to view and delete email on one device, such as a phone, and file it for future reference on their main device, such as a computer.
Note, when each device gets the email from the server, it needs to be configured to leave it on the server so that the other devices can also get the new mail. We recommend configuring all mail programs to leave the messages on the server for no more than 14 days to ensure the mailbox does not get full.
The Click Logic email service comes with built in SPAM filtering which each user can setup for themselves if they so desire. In particular, each user can specify what the email server should do with incoming email that has a low, medium and high probability of being SPAM. For each level, the email can be passed through, labeled, stored in a junk folder or deleted.
Email that is stored in a junk folder can be viewed using the web based interface.
